Community Projects

I have been thrilled to support a number of small, local projects across our constituency.

Community centres, pubs and other facilities are vital in rural areas where it is far too easy for people to feel cut off. It is only through the hard work and dedication of those in these communities that community projects are allowed to succeed in the face of Tory austerity.

Miners Arms, Nenthead

I was lucky to be able to meet volunteers in Nenthead who are raising money to save their local pub from property developers. The pub closed down in 2020, leaving residents in the highest village in England without a vital hub. By asking locals to contribute small investments, the pub could become community-owned, best serving the needs of people of Nenthead.
